IBEW Local 191 Energized Work Policy
IBEW Local 191 Energized Work Policy
(1) All work is to be done de-energized, with proper LockOut/TagOut procedures
followed.
Establish an electriclly safe work condition by de-energizing, locking and tagging,
grounding and testing to ensure the absence of voltage.
(2) If work must be performed on energized equipment, work should be performed
under an effective energized work policy that meets all the requirements of
NFPA 80E (latest edition). This standard includes an energized electrical work
permit, with an acceptable justification for the live work to be performed, and
a description of the safe work practices to be employed. Workers must wear
flame resistant clothing and appropriate PPE for arc flash blast exposure.
IBEW Local 191 requests that all Members us NFPA 70E as a guideline when working on or around energized equipment as well as OSH Construction Standard 29 CFR 1926.
The LMCC has purchased four 40 cal Arc-Flash Suits that are available for loan to those contractors that have not yet purchased their own. This equipment is currently available at the Mount Vernon and Wenatchee dispatch offices. For access call the Everett office or any Local Union Staff member.
