ElectricTV.net is a 100% video-based website and since its inception in 2007 has produced more than 75 features on the high-quality installation and maintenance work of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and The National Electrical Contractors Association.
The skilled hands of IBEW craftsmen and women managed by NECA member Uihlein (e-line) Electric did such a great job on this project that from now on, he's all union. A great success story for the NECA/IBEW team in a state where collective bargaining has taken a backseat to politics. As Barrett says, time is money and in this short story - being profitable trumps politics every time.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, or IBEW, represents approximately 725,000 members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations.
National Electrical Contractors Association
The National Electrical Contractors Association, or NECA, has provided more than a century of service to the $130 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the United States. NECA's national and 119 local chapters advance the industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development.
Nik Wallenda's Wire Walk Strung by NECA/IBEW Team: Nik Wallenda made history by walking across Niagara Falls on national TV, a feat never before attempted. Neither the walk or the stringing of the cable had ever been attempted and this video details the behind-the-scenes efforts of NECA contractor O’Connell Electric and their IBEW linemen who completed the work. You saw the walk, now watch the preparation.
